Work has begun on the £890,000 renovation of a pharmacy in Lincoln that will see it re-open as a “wellbeing facility” offering a range of services.
Lincolnshire Co-op, which joined the Company Chemists' Association in late 2024, has said the development “re-envisions the traditional pharmacy model into a multi-purpose healthcare destination” that will include five consultation rooms.
The site, which is expected to re-open in the autumn, merges two existing units and will see staff and patients transferred over from the existing Birchwood Pharmacy.
The ‘health hub’ will also offer podiatry services provided by staff currently based at the cooperative’s chiropody clinic in Waddington, while staff from a medical centre pharmacy previously owned by Boots will join in 2026.
Alice Hare, head of care at Lincolnshire Co-op, commented: “Work starting on site is an exciting milestone, as it brings us one step closer to expanding our healthcare offering within the Birchwood community.
“Caring for health and wellbeing is a key strategic focus for Lincolnshire Co-op, and this investment is testament to that.”
