A man who intimidated staff in a pharmacy in Scotland by yelling and swearing at them and hitting the counter after being told to come back on another day to collect his prescription has been bailed and will return later this month for sentencing.
Andrew Robertson, 40, reacted aggressively at a branch of Numark on May 15 when told his weekly prescription was a day late, prompting “fear or alarm” among staff, according to the Daily Record.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard Robertson normally collected his prescription on Wednesdays but staff asked him if he would he happy collecting it on Thursdays, prompting him to shout ‘give me my f*****g drugs, just give me them, don’t start your f*****g s***e, c***s, b******s’.
Staff told Robertson they would call the police if he did not calm down but he continued shouting and swearing. When he left the pharmacy, staff locked the doors and he threw a bin.
Police were unable to trace Roberson at his home but finally arrested him there 11 days later on May 26 before allowing him to leave custody and go home before his court appearance.
Robertson’s lawyer told the court he wanted to apologise to the pharmacy’s staff and said his outburst was triggered by “poor emotional management coupled with over consumption of alcohol”.
Robertson, who had been to bereavement counselling on the day he went to the pharmacy to help him come to terms with his father’s death last year, will be sentenced on August 22.
