If you're leading this month's session, here are some pointers to help maximise your training time with the team:
- Ensure that your team understands that several gastrointestinal conditions can have similar symptoms
- Ensure that your team understands that customers claiming to have certain gastrointestinal conditions, such as IBS, wheat intolerance or coeliac disease, should have had a proper diagnosis from their GP
- Discuss how you can best help customers with coeliac disease and the tips you would give to a customer who is worried about having to stick to a gluten-free diet
- What gluten-free products do you keep in the pharmacy? Could you stock more? Which products are available from your wholesaler and how quickly can you get them?
- Ensure that your team knows which local retailers keep other gluten-free products
- Ensure that your team can advise on appropriate lifestyle issues and OTC products for indigestion, constipation and diarrhoea.
