Despite the prevalence of oral health problems, a quarter of UK adults haven’t visited a dentist in the last two years and one in three suffer regular dental pain due to poor oral health and other lifestyle factors such as diet. There is also increasing evidence for the link between oral health and general health issues, including heart disease, highlighting the need for the promotion of good oral care. There’s an opportunity for pharmacy staff to advise on products for maintaining good oral health, offer self care advice to help customers limit their risk of developing oral health and further issues, as well as educating them about the value of oral care.
