Patient-centred care is no longer a destination: it’s already here. With thousands of pharmacists working in GP practices and in other primary care locations, such as residential care, the professional landscape is changing. And with funding cuts, inconsistent local commissioning and added work within national contracts, many pharmacies and pharmacists are already finding it difficult to negotiate the demands of daily practice. Despite these challenges, community pharmacy must be able to give patients the time they deserve. And their time is valuable too, so the quality of that time will dictate whether they use a pharmacy’s services again.
