03: Don’t judge
Don’t judge You may disagree with a person’s choices (e.g. if someone wants a cough treatment but isn’t ready to give up their smoking habit), but your own views and opinions are not relevant. You can only offer advice, not force someone to act upon it.
04: Involve the person
As covered in last month’s module, patient-centred care is paramount. Provide advice and possible solutions, but let your customer decide which route they wish to take.
05: Listen actively
People respond to those who truly listen to what they have to say. Focus on listening more than you talk.
