module menu icon The role of the pharmacy

Your customers work hard for their holidays, so when they are away for a week or two, they don't want to waste any precious days being ill and not being able to enjoy themselves.

Preventing illness on holiday means being well prepared and getting the right advice. There is nothing than worse than being bitten by an insect on the beach, getting a headache from too much sun or straining an ankle on a country walk and not being prepared. So, as the holiday season gets underway, make sure your pharmacy is displaying plenty of visible information and products for holiday health and make sure you're up to date with appropriate advice about sunscreens, insect bites and travel sickness.

The aim of this training session is to increase your knowledge of travel health issues so that you can help your customers. What sort of help can you offer? Read the accompanying article carefully. As you read, think about other holiday-related questions you've had in the pharmacy and jot them down. How did you handle these and how could you share your learning with the pharmacy team?
