Is this outcome achievable and can you achieve it alone?
Scenario
A pharmacist manager had a financial target to achieve for year-end. She really wanted to achieve the target. Initially she thought about her existing and potential customer base, how she can increase financial return from each customer, poor remuneration for pharmacy and the lack of willingness to introduce relevant services.
More positively, she then decides to think how she as a pharmacist can make her time with her customers more valuable and enjoyable. She focused more on the needs of customers and started paying attention to what was within her control. Over time, she did achieve the target.
The pharmacist in this example did not wait for external circumstances to solve her problem, she maintained her outcome and achieved target. This is important: if you cannot self maintain your own outcomes, you will never achieve your goal. You will find a host of reasons for why you did not achieve the target, e.g. the recession, lack of time, the government or poor employee performance. You may even conveniently convince yourself that these were the actual reasons!
