Always have a means of communication with you, such as a mobile phone, two-way radio or a panic alarm. Make sure these are regularly tested, turned on and with you at all times. Some areas of London operate a radio scheme as part of a Business Crime Reduction Partnership or Business Improvement District. Check with your local police force to see if something similar operates in your area.
Working late
If working late, keep in constant communication with someone who knows where you are. If you are the only person in the pharmacy, stay in touch with a colleague, your boss, or family member, so they know where you are.
If you are in a building that has security staff, let them know that you are working. You can also ask them to check on you every so often.
Pause to reflect
Check on visibility around the store. Are there any blind spots? If there are, what might you do about it? Make notes for later on your conclusions.
