Adding paracetamol to ibuprofen could be considered, whereas naproxen may be used independently if her pain persists and is not effectively managed with this combination.

HOLISTIC PAIN MANAGEMENT ADVICE:

There are several things Dalia could do to ease the symptoms of period pain including:11

  • Using heat packs or a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel on the stomach or back

  • Taking a warm bath can aid relaxation and distract from the pain

  • Gently massaging the stomach

  • Doing some gentle exercise such as yoga or swimming
