If I could have the positive outcome now would I take it?

Scenario

As the owner of Greene's Pharmacy, Jack's ambition was to add three more pharmacies to create a small business group. As a father of four children, he could imagine a large group with the Greene's brand in the future and hoped that one day his children might come into the business.

What would the effect of growing a business be on his family? He is asked a difficult question. If he could have the three pharmacies right now, would he take them?

He said 'Yes' with no hestitation. However, he was aware that family life would suffer and he may not be as hands on as wanted to be. He knew that finances would also be tight, but something would have to give to achieve the dream.

Having shown you how to create a positive goal, it seems a little unfair to now point out that there could also be a downside to that. This is the final step: to truly enjoy a positive goal, you must also consider the reality of that outcome.

For example, what are the costs in terms of the time involved? Are the consequences of achieving this outcome acceptable to you and others affected by it? You must consider these negative aspects early on or they will come back to haunt you as you move ahead.

In the end, only you can decide if your plan is compelling enough for you and your pharmacy. In the same way, only you and your team can create positive outcomes and achieve them.
